The CMMG Stainless Steel 22LR Conversion Kit with 1 Magazine.
This CMMG .22LR conversion kit allows the use of inexpensive .22LR caliber rim-fire ammo in your AR15. You can install this in 30 seconds, but just removing the standard bolt/carrier group from your AR and replacing with the the included .22 bolt device.
This unit is blow-back operated and allows semi-automatic firing.
The CMMG .22LR magazines have a bolt hold-open follower. This kit includes a gray-colored 25-round magazine.
Use with AR’s chambered in 5.56/.223 only. Compatible with piston-systems.

Q: Does this kit work with a .223/5.56 AR-15?
A: Yes! The barrel for a .223/5.56 is very close in size to a .22lr barrel – 3/1000″ larger. This kit allows for shooting of a .22LR from a standard AR-15 upper. A dedicated .22LR upper can also be used, and it will typically increase accuracy somewhat. Most users report that this kit results in 3-4 MOA accuracy (1.5″-2″ groups at 50 yards) with a .223/5.56 upper. Generally, the slower the twist rate on your AR-15 barrel, the better the accuracy with a 22LR round.
Q: Can this kit be used with a dedicated .22LR upper?
A: This kit can be used with a dedicated CMMG .22LR barrel, but you’ll need to purchase this part, and swap out the collar on the bolt – this will convert it to a dedicated .22LR bolt.

A few things to note:
• .22LR runs "dirtier" than 5.56 or .223. DO NOT skip cleaning your rifle, it will be less forgiving after shooting .22LR, just the nature of the round.
• If I had to, I'd go and just buy the kit that had the 3 magazines. It's hard to find these for some reason and any alternatives just suck. Get the 3 mag pack and be happy.
• I have the CMMG Anti-Jam charging handle (bought it separately), and sweet tap dancing Christ that thing is garbage. Just use your stock charging handle. Maybe I got a bad one but I get repeated failures as soon as I try using it, even well after the break-in period. I tried 10 rounds back to back between my stock PSA charging handle and the CMMG - each when the magazine only contained 10 rounds to eliminate the mag pressure variance and it was the CMMG charging handle that induce a failure every time. Your mileage may vary.
• 36 Grain is recommended, but don't be afraid to use 40 or 32 if it's all you can find. I broke mine in with 40 grain as none of the 8 gun shops around me had 36 grain.
• Note that the BCG separates, you WILL have your first 50+ rounds fail to eject, it'll be fine eventually - and remember that it separates when you go to clean out your BCG (bolt carrier group).
• Your Forward Assist will NOT work with this unless you get the adapter with the Echo kit (I think that's the kit name). Honestly, you probably won't need it because I didn't when I put 500 rounds down in its first day. I cleaned the barrel and BCG every 200-ish.
• I recommend switching your BCG to 5.56 or .223 and fire a round or two, the extra pressure after shooting dirty .22LR does something for it, I just can't recall what at the time of writing this.
• Some reviews state "wobbling" of the magazine, I have no issues myself.
• There are notes elsewhere on the internet to not run in a .223 Wylde barrel config - I have no experience with said barrel so be mindful of that note.
Personal thoughts:
• This is a great product, its easier than having another upper on-hand to switch ammo types, I've even got a slot in my gun case just for the BCG to field swap.
• Some may state it's better to have a dedicated .22LR platform, and if 100m+ accuracy is your goal, then yeah, probably. But having the ability to change in literally seconds, not have to carry 2 rifles, and not having to buy more scopes/lights/magnifiers/etc, is the real benefit here.
• Buy if you: want to utilize your AR15 even more, if you want to shoot cheaper, don't want to buy more scopes, don't want to bring another gun to the range, if you want to use your gun but your girlfriend just wants to shoot the "fun 22 rounds", and if you don't want to spend $400+ for another rifle (just to then buy every attachment again).

it seems, however when i insert the clip (3 clips) the gun will not function. The slide appears to be hanging up on the clips. Would there be
a simple fix or do i return it ?

CMMG Warranty
Seller warrants to Buyer that for a period of 6 months from the Delivery Date, all Goods will be:
- Free from any defects in workmanship, material, and design
- Conform to applicable specifications[, drawings, designs, samples and other requirements specified by Buyer]
- Fit for their intended purpose and operate as intended
- Merchantable
- Free and clear of all liens, security interests or other encumbrances
- Not infringe or misappropriate any third party’s patent or other intellectual property rights.
Inspection and Rejection of Nonconforming Goods
The Buyer has the right to inspect the Goods for a period of thirty (30) days after the Delivery Date. Buyer, at its sole option, may inspect all or a sample of the Goods and may reject all or any portion of the Goods if it determines the Goods are non-conforming or defective.
If Buyer rejects any portion of the Goods, Buyer has the right, effective upon written notice to Seller, to:
- Rescind the Order in its entirety
- Accept the Goods at a reasonably reduced price
- Reject the Goods and require replacement of the rejected Goods.
NOTES:
If Buyer requires replacement of the Goods, Seller shall, at its expense, promptly/within 30 days replace the nonconforming Goods and pay for all related expenses, including, but not limited to, transportation charges for the return of the defective goods and the delivery of replacement Goods.
If Seller fails to timely deliver replacement Goods, Buyer may replace them with goods from a third party and charge Seller the cost thereof and terminate this Order for cause pursuant to Section 20.
Any inspection or other action by Buyer under this Section shall not reduce or otherwise affect Seller’s obligations under the Order, and Buyer shall have the right to conduct further inspections after Seller has carried out its remedial actions.
